F==K YOUR FLAG
F==k Your Flag is a unique field guide to the wave of desecrated American flags flown by J6 seditionists and their sympathizers—flags which collectively signal a violent desire for a second American civil war.
It’s a unique photographic collection of desecrated flags with symbols of Christian nationalism, implicit threats, and domestic terrorism. This necessarily terrible book is filled with deliberately ugly images of flags flown over homes, on farms, outside mansions, and even in front of the offices of elected federal politicians in Washington, D.C.
Captured from 2020 until 2024 throughout the U.S, most of the designs are only a few years old and were conceived where they continue to be made: China. This book explains the meanings of them and the origins of the most egregious ones. It also follows threads that lead to the police, Disney, and U.S. Supreme Court Justices.
Owing to the far right’s desire for a “Christian” nation of white supremacy, these flags will only get wilder and more widespread. This is a first-of-its-kind document of these hateful flags, one that details their origins and explains the anti-democratic intimidation they convey.
Randall Fleming, author
Randall Fleming has spent more than three decades as a publisher of fanzines, chapbooks, poetry broadsheets, and a newspaper. He’s a wide-ranging writer whose work has been in hundreds of magazines, newspapers, and books; is a former book editor and cover designer; and is a photographer whose earliest works include pre-Nirvana Dave Grohl, 1980s-era Sublime at house parties, and Offspring when they played hotels in Anaheim in the early 1990s.
Before his teenage leap into the punk rock circus of eclectic publishing, he was an Eagle Scout, a top-flight AFJROTC cadet (slated for the U.S. Air Force Academy), and a Southern boy born in Arkansas who lived around the world prior to his teenage years in Montgomery, AL.
He published two underground rags full of photos: Happy Thrasher (1987-1992) and Angry Thoreauan (1992-2002). His photographs and writing have been featured in legendary punk rags such as fLiPSiDE, Maximum Rocknroll, and Ben Is Dead as well as mainstream magazines such as Alternative Press, Working World, and Hollywood Now! He later published his photography (and design and writing) in chapbooks on his NYC-based small press house MetroHop Books; on his L.A.-based poetry broadsheet BrickBat Revue; and with his co-published community newspaper, the Inglewood, California-based Morningside Park Chronicle.
F==K YOUR FLAG is his first book of photography.
